Classroom widget usage study

Status: results not published yet. This page explains how we plan to study widget usage. We will not invent averages, percentages, or “most popular timer” claims until collection and review are complete — per our sourcing policy.

Classroom-display blogs often quote precise usage statistics with no method. MyClassScreen will only publish aggregate findings that we can defend: what we measured, over what window, with what privacy constraints, and what we did not measure.

Research questions (planned)

  • Which widgets appear most often on saved boards?
  • What timer durations are commonly configured (when observable in aggregate)?
  • How often noise-meter and traffic-light widgets co-occur with timers?
  • Whether template categories (morning, transition, centers) correlate with widget mixes

What we will measure

  • Anonymous, aggregate configuration signals from the product (e.g., widget types on saved boards)
  • Optional opt-in analytics if introduced — disclosed here and in the Privacy Policy before enablement

What we will not measure

  • Student identities or student audio content
  • Raw microphone streams (noise meter audio stays on-device; see Privacy Policy)
  • Individual teacher ranking or public shaming metrics

Analysis plan

Findings will be reported as aggregates with clear denominators (for example, “among saved boards in window W…”). Small samples will be labeled as preliminary. We will not extrapolate to “all teachers worldwide.”

Publication plan

When results exist, this page will link to a dated findings post with charts and limitations. Until then, strategy guides such as digital voice level display remain practice-based, not telemetry-based.
