Who we are
MyClassScreen ("we", "us", "our") runs the website at myclassscreen.org and the classroom display board at myclassscreen.org/board/ (together, "the service"). You can reach us at support@myclassscreen.org.
These terms are an agreement between you and MyClassScreen. By using the service you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you use MyClassScreen on behalf of a school, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for that use.
Our privacy policy explains what information the service handles and is part of these terms.
Using the board
The board is a free, browser-based classroom display with timers, name pickers, a noise meter, group makers and other widgets. There is nothing to pay for and no account to create: open it and project it.
- It is free. There is no premium tier and no charge for any widget. If that ever changes, we will update these terms first and tell you on the site before anything you already use is affected.
- It is meant for teachers and other adults who run a projected display for a group, such as teachers, teaching assistants, tutors, coaches and parents.
- It runs in your browser. Some widgets need permissions you control. The noise meter, for example, needs microphone access, which you can refuse or withdraw in your browser settings at any time.
- We may change it. We add, improve and occasionally remove widgets. We try to keep saved layouts working, but we cannot promise every feature will stay the same.
You are responsible for the device, display and internet connection you use with the board, and for checking it suits your class before relying on it in a lesson.
Saved boards and your content
"Your content" means anything you add to the board: name lists, text, scores, poll questions, uploaded backgrounds and the layouts you save.
- You own your content. We do not claim ownership of it. You give us only the limited permission needed to store and display it so the board can work for you.
- Where it is kept. The board has no accounts or sign-in. Boards, lists and settings you save are kept only in your browser's local storage on the device you used, and they are not sent to us. They stay there until you delete them or clear your browser's site data, and we cannot see or recover them for you. If accounts are ever added, we will update these terms before they go live.
- Keep it appropriate. Do not upload images or text you do not have the right to use, and do not put sensitive student information on the board. First names are usually all a name picker needs.
- Back up what matters. Browser storage can be cleared by updates, school device policies or someone else using the same computer. A board saved on one device does not appear on another, so keep a copy of lists you cannot easily retype.
Everything else on the site, including the board's software, design, widget artwork, guides and the MyClassScreen name and logo, belongs to MyClassScreen or its licensors. You may link to any page, and you may print or share our guides for non-commercial teaching. Please do not copy the site, resell the board or present our guides as your own.
Acceptable use
Use MyClassScreen for lawful teaching and learning. You agree not to:
- break the law or your school's policies while using the service
- upload or display content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, violent or harassing
- use the board to collect personal information from students in a way your school or local law does not allow
- try to access parts of the service or our systems without permission
- overload, scrape, probe or disrupt the service, or use automated tools that place an unreasonable load on it
- remove copyright notices, or copy, resell or reframe the board as part of another product
We may restrict or remove access for anyone who breaks these rules or puts the service or its users at risk.
Third-party services
Marketing pages may load a third-party script. The board at /board/ does not load it, so a projected lesson does not. What those pages load is described in our privacy policy. When you follow a link to another website, that site's own terms and privacy policy apply, not ours.
The service may also rely on other third parties, such as hosting providers and the browser features your device supplies. We are not responsible for outages or changes in those services.
Children and schools
The board is built to be run by a teacher and watched by a class.
- No student accounts. Students never need to sign up, sign in or give us any personal information to use or view the board.
- Teacher-operated. The person running the board is responsible for what it shows to students, including names, images and text.
- Not directed at children for sign-up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
- School responsibilities. Schools decide whether a tool fits their rules under laws such as COPPA, FERPA or GDPR. Our schools page and privacy policy describe exactly what the board stores and processes so you can make that decision.
- Audio. The noise meter works out volume inside the browser. It does not record, store or send classroom audio.
Project the board when you want a screen in front of a class. The board does not load the third-party script used on marketing pages.
Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep the board reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows:
- we do not promise the service will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular lesson, school or compliance programme
- guides and classroom strategies on this site are general information for teachers, not professional, medical, legal or special-education advice
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost lesson time, lost saved boards or lost data stored in your browser
- because the service is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the most the law allows us to limit it to
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will put a notice on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
