The classroom screen app is a progressive web app (PWA), not a native iPhone or Android store listing. Same free board as the website: timer, name picker, noise meter, groups, and the rest. Install once, launch from a desktop shortcut, skip the “which tab was the timer” hunt during a transition.
You do not need a classroom screen login to install or project. A free teacher account is only for saved layouts. The projected board is the product. The install icon is a shortcut to that board.
What people mean by “classroom screen app”
The search is usually one of three jobs: a full-screen timer on a Promethean or SMART panel, an iPad icon that looks like other school apps, or “the Classroomscreen download.” MyClassScreen is the first two. It is not the third. Classroomscreen is a different company and a different login. If you typed their name, their app store listing is theirs. This page is ours.
A native App Store binary would mean review queues, OS version splits, and a second codebase. A PWA is the website, installed. Chrome and Edge treat it like an app window. That is the honest download: there is nothing in the store because the store is the wrong place for a projected board.
How to install (Chrome / Edge)
- 1 Open app.myclassscreen.org/board on the computer that drives the panel — or on the panel’s own browser if it is a Chromebook-class board.
- 2 Click the Install icon in the address bar, or the browser menu → Install app. If you do not see it, you are probably in Safari on macOS, a guest profile, or an older kiosk build. Use Chrome or Edge.
- 3 Open the shortcut full-screen on your Promethean, SMART, or ViewSonic panel. Hide the shelf. The board should look like a dedicated classroom screen, not a browser with bookmarks.
iPad
Safari or Chrome → Share → Add to Home Screen. That is the classroom screen app on iPad. We do not publish a separate App Store binary. Projection from iPad works; many teachers still drive the panel from a laptop because the cursor and roster paste are easier. Either is valid.
Chromebook and the panel browser
On a managed Chromebook, Install app is often in the three-dot menu. If the admin blocked PWAs, keep a bookmark to the board and use full-screen (F11 or the panel’s kiosk mode). You did not fail the install. The district just chose bookmarks.
Smart-board built-in Android browsers vary. If Install is missing, run Chrome on the teacher laptop and HDMI/wireless display as you already do for slides. The PWA is convenience, not a requirement. The URL is the backup.
What you get after install
The same widgets as the site. A classroom timer, name picker, group maker, noise meter, and the rest on one board. No student accounts. Transitions that actually use the clock are in classroom transitions with timers. Management stack: classroom management tools.
Save a layout if you make an account. Do not wait for an app-store update to get a new widget. Refresh the PWA like a site. If the shortcut goes stale after a district image, install again — thirty seconds, not a ticket.
What this page will not pretend
- There is no MyClassScreen iPhone SKU to search in the App Store.
- This is not Classroomscreen’s mobile app or their login.
- Offline is not a promise. Load the board before the lesson. Keep the URL.
- Students do not install anything. The screen is yours.
