How to Calibrate the Classroom Noise Meter Widget
Visual volume trackers calibration guidelines and classroom management rules.
Step-by-Step Setup
- 1 Click the Noise Meter microphone icon in the toolbar to place it on the screen.
- 2 Grant browser microphone permission when prompted (click 'Allow').
- 3 Have the class talk at your target conversational level to check current decibel heights.
- 4 Adjust the sensitivity slider so the bar remains in the green zone during target volume.
- 5 Set the red line. If students raise their voices past that line, the bar turns red.
Pro Strategies for Classroom Success
- Green Zone Game Challenge groups to complete an activity keeping the bar in the green zone. Reward the winning team.
- Whisper Practice Set the red line low during silent reading. If they hit red, pause and practice whispering for 30 seconds.
- Volume Matrices Post voice guidelines on a text widget next to the meter (e.g. Green = quiet talk, Red = silent).
